“One of the most unforgettable things from the film, and really a character in itself, was this home,” says the listing for the house in the O’Connor-Parkview neighbourhood, just north of Taylor Creek.

Mike Catsiliras, real estate agent with Blue Door Realty, said the property hit the market on Tuesday after a “coming soon” sign sat on the lawn for nearly two weeks to garner public interest.

Since it was listed, multiple showings have been booked, he said.

In the movie, starring Canadian actor Nia Vardalos and John Corbett, a Greek woman named Toula tries to convince her family to accept her non-Greek partner while also exploring her own cultural identity. The film was directed by Joel Zwick and was nominated for 29 awards, including an Oscar.

Toula’s family called the property their home in both the original movie and the 2016 sequel.

As the listing says, “It’s fair to say that there are tons of standout moments, lines and characters that everyone remembers from the movie. There is the lifesaver that is Windex, the family, where everyone is named Nick, Niko or Nikki, and of course, the secret to where every word’s origin is Greek.”

The detached, single family dwelling at 73 Glenwood Cres. has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two kitchens and a five-car driveway and garage — although the huge Greek flag from the film has been removed from the garage door.

It’s also more than 3,400 square feet and sits on a ravine lot. The annual property tax is $6,776.14.

Several rooms feature large windows and the basement has a recreational games room.

Although the film’s lawn ornaments have also been removed from the home, it’s still recognizable by its distinctive white structural pillars and a small staircase can still be seen from the sizable front yard.

The house is owned by Catsiliras’ in-laws. His wife and her sister grew up in the home, which has been in the family for more than 40 years.

“It’s emotional but it’s time,” Catsiliras said of listing the house for sale. “Everything comes to an end and it’s time for them to move onto the next chapter of their life.”

According to land transfer documents, the house last sold in 1978 for almost $69,000.
