With the home opener less than three weeks away, the Blue Jays are putting the finishing touches on the second phase of renovations at the Rogers Centre.
In a new photo and video released by the team, the dirt infield and turf has returned to the playing surface as the ballpark is “almost ready for baseball.”
The renovations are part of a $300-million, multi-year plan to modernize the Rogers Centre. It began last off-season, when the team rebuilt the outfield with new social spaces, and continued this off-season when the 100-level seating bowl was demolished to make way for premium clubs and seats pointed toward the diamond.

The project, completed by PCL Construction, involved the removal of 29.5 million pounds of materials over 13 days in October, according to the company. The company installed a temporary bridge that saw 344 dump trucks crossing it in one day.
In total, the project averaged 350 workers on site every day and 2.4 million pounds of structural steel have been installed. Equipment was even brought in by crane through the Rogers Centre roof.
But in the Blue Jays’ new video, none of that is visible. The turf, with a Blue Jays logo behind home plate, looks just as it did at the end of last season, with slight changes to the dimensions of foul area on the left and right sides of the field.
In the seating bowl, new navy blue seats have been installed and tunnels to the premium clubs below.
The Blue Jays will start their season with a 10-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Rays, Houston Astros and New York Yankees, before arriving at the Rogers Centre for the home opener on April 8 against the Seattle Mariners.
Almost ready for baseball 👀
See you soon!
