It took a village to get Leafs goaltender Matt Murray healthy again. This season is for the village

Murray was supposed to the the No. 1 goaltender two years ago. Now he’s fighting to be in the top two.

Matt Murray was expected to the Maple Leafs’ No. 1 goaltender when he was acquired in 2022 but injuries have limited him to 26 regular-season games.


Matt Murray wasn’t going to feel sorry for himself.

As the injuries piled up, as his rehab started to feel like Groundhog Day, even as an NHL season was wiped out, Murray never got down on himself. He was confident he would be back.
