Man faces multiple fraud charges after York police say new bank accounts were opened using stolen mail

At the time of the man’s arrest, an “overwhelming amount” of identification and other fraudulent documentation was found that was not in the man’s name, York police said.

The arrest took place after investigators received reports about banking and identification documents missing from resident mailboxes, police said in a news release on Wednesday.


A man is facing multiple fraud-related charges after police say new bank accounts and credit cards were made using documents stolen from victims’ mail.

The 40-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested Monday in Newmarket and is facing 29 charges relating to an investigation that began in December after investigators received reports about banking and identification documents missing from resident mailboxes, York Regional police said on Wednesday.
