As pc28¹ÙÍøgears up for the Victoria Day long weekend — the unofficial start of summer for many — it’s time to plan ahead for what will be open and closed.
From malls to banks and transit, here’s a breakdown of how the Monday holiday will affect services across the city.
Grocery stores
Most major grocery chains will be closed, including Loblaws, Metro, Costco and No Frills.Ìý
T&T Supermarket and Galleria Supermarket locations will be open until 10 p.m. or later. Rabba Fine Foods will continue to stay open 24/7.Ìý
Some Shoppers Drug Mart locations will be open. Customers are advised to call their branch ahead of time to ask about hours.Ìý
Banks
Victoria Day is recognized as a holiday by the Bank of Canada.Ìý
National Bank, TD Bank and RBC will be closed on Monday. RBC said its customer service line will still be open 24/7.Ìý
Scotiabank’s hours will differ from one location to another with some branches closed the entire long weekend and others operating under modified hours. Customers can check when their nearest location will be open using Scotiabank’sÌý.
Transit
The TTC will operate on its holiday service schedule for Victoria Day. All TTC routes will run on their Sunday schedules, but service will begin earlier at around 6 a.m. Exact times vary by station and can be found on each station’s page on theÌý.Ìý
GO Transit will operate on its Saturday schedule for the statutory holiday. Since some trains do not offer weekend service, riders should check their specific routes on the GO TransitÌý.Ìý
Shopping malls
Most pc28¹ÙÍøshopping malls, including Yorkdale Shopping Centre, CF Fairview Mall, CF Sherway Gardens and Bayview Village, will be closed Monday.
Eaton Centre will be open for reduced hours, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.Ìý
In the GTA, Vaughan Mills,ÌýSquare One Shopping Centre, CF Markville, Pacific Mall and pc28¹ÙÍøPremium Outlets will operate on regular hours.Ìý

Most pc28¹ÙÍøattractions are open for the holiday, including the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, the pc28¹ÙÍøZoo and Casa Loma.
Most museums, including Royal Ontario Museum, the Aga Khan Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Bata Shoe Museum, are also open for regular hours.
The St. Lawrence South Market is closed on Monday but will be open on Saturday and Sunday, including the Saturday Farmers Market at the North Market and the Sunday Variety Vintage Market at the Temporary Market.
Alcohol
More than 80 Beer StoresÌýwill be open in the GTA andÌýacross OntarioÌýon holiday Monday, with the majority open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Customers can check which locations will be open and whether any restrictions will apply .
Most LCBO locations will be closed on Victoria Day but open for the rest of the weekend.Ìý
Government offices
Government offices and services will be closed on Victoria Day, which is a stat holiday for federal, provincial and municipal public servants.
Garden centres
For many gardeners, Victoria Day marks the start of planting season, and Toronto’s garden centres and nurseries will be open for shoppers looking to stock up on plants, soil and gardening supplies.
Sheridan Nurseries locations in the GTA, including Toronto, Scarborough, Etobicoke and Southdown Road (Mississauga) garden centres, will be open for reduced hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.Ìý
Woodhill Garden Centre, Homeland garden centre and Davenport Garden Centre are also open for their usual hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
East End Garden Centre will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.Ìý
Evergreen Garden Market, at Evergreen Brickworks, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.Ìý
