An Immersive Business Program to Help Navigate Complex Corporate Landscapes
Management and Organizational Studies program

Muskaan, fourth-year Management and Organizational Studies student
ContributedThe discussions and challenges addressed in boardrooms are evolving. And the classrooms that prepare students for a career in business need to stay at the forefront. Huron’s Management and Organizational Studies program (known as MOS) blends business training with insights from social sciences, offering an interdisciplinary approach that provides students with a community-centred perspective on organizational dynamics and decision-making. With 1:1 mentorship from professors, meaningful networking opportunities, internships to hone their knowledge, and a curriculum that includes courses in accounting, finance, management, and ethics — students are prepared for diverse careers in the ever-evolving business world.
Fourth-year MOS student Muskaan was drawn to Huron’s unique Marketing and Sustainability Major, knowing she would learn directly from industry-leading professors who would create an environment where she could thrive despite being away from her home in India.
“At Huron, you have the kind of experience where you have community-related conversations and address real world problems facing businesses. We also work with business partners to actually apply what we learn. It’s not just theoretical,” she said.
As part of her undergrad, Muskaan was given the opportunity to help coordinate an experiential learning trip for Huron students to Dubai, which gave her work-integrated experience in project management, engaging with international business stakeholders and partnership management.
Understanding the Role of Leadership in Making Decisions and Driving Positive Change
Governance, Leadership and Ethics program

Noah, fourth-year Governance, Leadership and Ethics student
Huron’s one-of-a-kind major in Governance, Leadership and Ethics (known as GLE) prepares students to grasp the challenges of contemporary governance and navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world. The program explores the need for new decision-making models and the impact of diverse leadership styles. Designed for those eager to lead, engage in civic affairs and drive positive change, GLE cultivates ethical, inclusive, and accountable leaders ready to make a difference across the private, public, and non-profit sectors — both locally and globally.
For Noah, a fourth-year GLE student from the greater pc28area, Huron’s GLE program offered a unique approach to learning — combining ethics and policymaking with the opportunity for students to take courses completely structured around experiential learning in the community. He felt enlightened during a recent opportunity to work directly with a not-for-profit organization which supports individuals with intellectual disabilities and creates community.
“I learned one of the most important things as a leader is humility. As our group was deliberating how we could help, we came to the realization that we could make the same mistake that other organizations make of not asking this group of people how we can help them.”
He added that “harnessing the power of lived experience and creating an environment where empathy is prioritized was the foundation for meaningful change.”
Hands-On Research to Better Understand Human Behaviour and Complex Dynamics
Psychology program

Khoi, third-year Psychology and Economics student
Student-led, independent research at the undergraduate level is rare at Canadian universities. Huron’s Psychology program challenges that and in contrast offers a dynamic and research-focused approach to understanding how experiences can shape behaviour. With an early and continuous emphasis on research skill development supported by faculty mentorship in small classes, students gain hands-on experience from their first year onward. These advantages resonated with Khoi, a third-year Huron student from Vietnam. Khoi decided to pursue a blend of studies that spoke to his passions and career-readiness goals.
“My double major in Psychology and Economics gives me strong quantitative and qualitative research skills that I am able to apply to solve problems in a wide range of industries. I am confident these technical skills paired with my desire to make positive differences will set me up well to tackle the challenges of communities around me.”
He reflected on first hearing Huron President Dr. Barry Craig speak at his high school and being inspired by Huron’s focus on developing values within students that complements their education and careers. Knowing he wanted to study Psychology, Khoi saw the impact of the program at Huron and how it would prepare him to lead with a good head and a good heart.
