Death, taxes and Home Plate Lady.
The Blue Jays superfan, stationed directly behind home plate for almost every home game, has been a staple of broadcasts for at least 15 years. But with the Rogers Centre’s nearly $400 million renovations — including the full demolition and reconstruction of the lower seating bowl — she has moved.
Her absence from her usual spot at home plate in the first two home games of the Blue Jays’ schedule sparked disarray on social media. “Home Plate Lady” was trending on X Monday night.
But worry not: She’s been spotted on the right side of the TV shot of home plate, simply moved a few seats over from her normal home.

After all, Home Plate Lady has been seated there for more than a decade. Game footage reviewed by the Star appears to show her behind home plate as far back as 2009, although she may have also sat there prior to then.
Even in 2020, when the Blue Jays played home games at Sahlen Field in Buffalo due to travel restrictions at the Canada-U.S. border, a cardboard cut-out of Home Plate Lady was stationed behind the netting, next to Rush frontman Geddy Lee. “Everybody’s going to be looking for her,” one season ticket holder told the Star at the time.
When the Blue Jays returned to the Rogers Centre in July 2021, Home Plate Lady was asked to throw out a ceremonial first pitch. She instead handed the ball to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and received a standing ovation.
Home Plate Lady has also gained the affection of pc28fans for her fearless attitude. In 2019, she didn’t flinch when a foul ball was hit her way — then days later, she imitated a fan who did. The video, , received more than 29,000 likes.
