Frustrations with Wayne Gretzky have seemingly reached the Hockey Hall of Fame.
A sticker welcoming the Canadian hockey legend to the “Hall of Lame” recently appeared at the museum next to a display honouring Gretzky, labelling him the “Great Once” and the “Great Waning Legacy.”
The sticker was accompanied by a QR code leading to a music video on YouTube called “The Great Once,” which featured Gretzky cards being burned.

The Hockey Hall of Fame said Tuesday the sticker was “reported by a staff member shortly after the social media post yesterday.”
“The adhesive printed material was immediately removed from the glass showcase,” spokesperson Kelly Masse told the Star in an email. “We are in the process of reviewing surveillance video in an effort to identify the individual(s) responsible. The Hockey Hall of Fame’s mandate is to tell the stories of the greatest players and moments in the history of our game.”
The creator of the music video, which was posted to YouTube on Tuesday, did not respond to an email from the Star.

Gretzky attended Trump’s postelection party in November wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and was criticized when he appeared at the 4 Nations Face-Off final between Canada and the U.S. not wearing a Canadian jersey, despite being Canada’s honorary captain. Trump also said on Truth Social that Gretzky “could run for any political office in Canada, and win.”
For years, “The Great One” was beloved in the eyes of many Canadians. Now, it appears that is no
“He supports Canada the way it is, as he should, even though it’s not nearly as good as it could be” as the 51st state, Trump posted.
In his first public comments since Trump’s re-election, Gretzky downplayed his role in the controversy, telling Ben Mulroney during a radio show appearance in April that he has “no political power with the prime minster or the president.”
“I always say to my kids — I’ve got five American kids, seven American grandchildren, an American wife, a 103-year-old American mother-in-law, and I always tell them every day that you be as proud of the United States of America as I am to be a Canadian,” Gretzky said on Mulroney’s show.
