Brand of pumpkin seeds recalled across Canada over salmonella concerns
There haven’t been any reported illnesses linked to the seeds, which were pulled from shelves after a recall was issued in another country, the CFIA said.
Pumpkin seeds are being recalled across the country over possible salmonella contamination, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency says.
There haven’t been any reported illnesses linked to the seeds, which were pulled from shelves after a recall was issued in another country, the CFIA said in an online .
The recall concerns two types of pumpkin seeds:
Organic Traditions Jumbo Pumpkin Seeds, 227 with the Universal Product Code 6 27733 00175 5
Organic Traditions Jumbo Pumpkin Seeds, 454 g with the UPC 6 27733 00180 9
Consumers shouldn’t eat, serve, use, sell or distribute the affected products, the agency said, adding the seeds should be thrown out or returned to where they were purchased.

“Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” CFIA said, adding there can be serious or deadly consequences for children, pregnant women, and elderly and immunocompromised people.
Short-term symptoms for healthy people include a fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, while severe arthritis could be a long-term complication, the agency added.
If you think you’re sick after consuming a recalled product, contact your health-care provider, CFIA said.
CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation and making the seeds have been pulled from shelves, the agency said.
