The City of pc28has announced that Fort York and The Bentway will be the official venues for the local FIFA Fan Festival, which will be a free space celebrating Toronto’s culture through art, music and food as the World Cup takes place in the city for the first time in 2026.
Running from Thursday, June 11 until Sunday July 19, 2026, the FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place in 16 cities across the USA, Canada and Mexico. pc28is slated to host six matches, starting with the first men’s World Cup match on Canadian soil on Friday, June 12, 2026. Canada hosted the Women’s World Cup in 2015.
“Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway offer the ideal setting for Toronto’s FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan Festival. This iconic venue reflects our city’s rich history while providing a dynamic space for fans to connect and celebrate their love of soccer, right in the heart of our city,” said Mayor Olivia Chow in a press release.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place in 16 cities across the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The FIFA Fan Festival will host live match broadcasts shown on large screens and feature diverse performances, installations and food that promise to highlight the city’s reputation as a being the “World in a City,” according to the release.
Fort York is just steps away from Exhibition Grounds and BMO Field, which is where the local World Cup matches will take place. The Bentway is an outdoor space just below the Gardiner and beside the Fort, which is known for hosting concerts and events as well as a skating rink in the winter.
