For kids interested in sports
With locations in Vaughan, Unionville and Woodbridge, Ont., Rouge Camps offers a special sports camp for kids between the ages of four and 13. Its program is designed for both athletes and non-athletes to get active and have fun, with campers able to do the sports they love every day or try new ones. Its elective sports include badminton, basketball, floor hockey, dance and soccer, with opportunities to explore other sports such as baseball and kids cross-fit.

For kids interested in food
For those who love savouring different tastes and cuisines, Crescent Camps’ Nourish & Flourish in the Kitchen teaches campers valuable life skills, including cooking safely. They will learn how to make their own meal in the kitchen, with an emphasis on food safety, nutrition, understanding cooking elements, and how to work as a team to cook a tasty lunch each day. Camp sessions are offered for kids ages 10 to 11 and 12 to 13.

For kids interested in space
Budding astronauts will have a chance to explore everything related to outer space and the cosmos during the Science Explorations Summer Camp for Grades 3 to 8 held at York University’s Keele Campus. The day camp includes a hands-on curriculum around science, technology, engineering and mathematics and a typical day consists of two to four experiments and activities. All the camps are one week in length and end with a showcase where campers can demonstrate what they worked on to their family.Ìý

For kids interested in comedy
Offered through the Appleby College Enrichment Program, Comedy Jr. is designed to teach students the fundamentals of stand-up and improv comedy — listening, reacting honestly, confidence in choices, creativity and imagination. The weeklong camp in Oakville, Ont., is for children between the ages of 12 and 14 and will also see them study classic comic bits from Gilda Radner, Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy and Christopher Guest. It ends with a group performance on the last day.Ìý

For kids interested in superheroes
Offered through Rotherglen Summer Camp in Mississauga, Ont., Superheroes is a four-day summer camp in August where children ages four to six can unleash their superhero powers.Ìý Through recreational games, the campers will train to become fast like the Flash, strong like Wonder Woman and nimble like Spiderman. During the day, there are also crafts and activities to help children discover the hero that lies within.

For kids interested in nature
If your child loves spending time in the great outdoors, then the High Park Nature Centre’s summer program is perfect for them. Each day the campers might go on nature hikes, bird watching, identify plants or play nature-themed games. The nature camps — which take place in Toronto’s High Park — are held over four days with different age groupings for children ages four to 16.

For kids interested in history
Children with a keen interest in the past will be kept busy throughout the summer with Black Creek Pioneer Village’s Outdoor Camps at The Village. It hosts several history-based, week-long camps that are held in the recreation of a 19th century rural Ontario community. The camps include those related to history, culinary arts, plants and animals, and a behind the scenes look at the village.
